This CM @ Risk project involves the construction of a 37,000 square foot addition, and a 118,000 square foot phased renovation of the fully occupied Marshall Simonds Middle School. In addition to classrooms, the Addition will be comprised of a media center, administrative space, science rooms, musical suite and a new elevator.
The renovations to the existing, occupied school include a new kitchen, bathrooms, accessibility code requirements, roofing, fire protection, plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems. Asbestos abatement of over 84,000 square feet of floor tile will take place during the summer months and second shift when the school is unoccupied.
The entire project is scheduled to be completed prior to the start of classes in September, 2013.
CTA Construction serves as Construction Manager at risk for this project.
