This project involves the demolition of the existing DPW facility and construction of a new, 87,000 sf, two-story public works building. Asbestos abatement and related site improvements are also part of the scope of work. Serving as the Administration and Operations division of the Department of Public Works, the new facility contains administrative offices, a lunchroom, locker rooms, central stores, cold storage, a fuel island, a sand/salt shed, and associated landscaping and parking. The project received a LEED Silver certification, and was awarded the 2010 Project of the Year from the American Public Works Association (APWA), and an Excellence in Construction Merit Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Massachusetts.
