This project is for construction of a new Public Safety Building that will house both the Southborough Police Department, Southborough Fire Department and their combined Dispatch. The facility will be two-stories tall with attached single-story apparatus bays. The total square footage of the new facility is approximately 35,000 square feet. This facility will replace both the existing Southborough Police Station and Southborough Fire Station.

For the Police, the first floor contains the lobby, public meeting & training room, roll call, sergeants office, armory, booking, interview, detention cells, sallyport, evidence storage, and records. For Fire, the first floor contains the drive through apparatus bays, decontamination and laundry rooms, SCBA fill station, mechanics room, training tower, and watch room. Dispatch will also be on the first floor. The second floor contains administrative offices, detective offices, and locker rooms.

For Fire, the second floor will contain fire fighter dormitories, toilet and shower facilities, kitchen and living facilities the main public entrance to the Fire Department through the existing upper level lobby.

The building is constructed with poured in place concrete foundations and floor slabs. The two-story structure is steel framed with steel stud cavity wall infill and metal truss roof framing. The apparatus bay will be cmu bearing wall cavity wall construction, with a steel framed roof. Exterior veneer will be brick veneer. The roof will be a combination of flat PVC roof and sloped, 30-year asphalt shingle roof.

Site work includes earthwork, landscaping, parking, lighting, vehicular access, sidewalks and a storm water retention system along with other site improvements.
